Do you remember the Millennium? The new years eve when 1999 turned into 2000. When we switched from the twentieth century to the twenty-first century. People went bananas and thought computers would go nuts, clocks stop, aeroplanes crash and microvawe ovens explode. Not much happened though.
The world leaders met that year and agreed on a pretty bold 15 year plan for the world – The Millennium Development Goals.
EPIC ACHIEVEMENTS FOR HUMANITY
We should give them (us) cred. The MDG's are the most successful global anti-poverty push in mankind's history. Hurray:-)

THE GREAT NEWS
OK, never has the people on this planet worked so successfully together on common goals. We didn't reach all the way, but pretty much good stuff was accomplished:
– Global poverty was halved well ahead of the 2015 deadline.
– In developing countries, 90 per cent of children now have some kind of education to attend to.
–The number of people lacking access to drinking water has halved.
– The fight against malaria and tuberculosis has shown positive results.
THE NOT SO GOOD NEWS
– 73 million young people around the world are looking for a job and many more are trapped in jobs where they are being used under unfair conditions by their bosses.
– In recent years, more than two and a half million more children in rich countries fell into poverty, bringing the total above 76 million.
SO, WHAT'S NEXT
The UN – all countries in the world – continue the work and has agreed upon an ambitious post-2015 development agenda:
